The Oxford Prenatal Project

The Oxford Prenatal Project was led by Dr Susannah Murphy and supported by a grant from the University of Oxford’s John Fell Fund.

The aim of the study was to investigate whether there are biases in the processing of infant-related stimuli that are associated with anxiety during pregnancy.  Women were recruited into the study at the start of their second trimester of pregnancy and asked to complete a battery of tasks designed to assess psychological and hormonal responses to infant related cues, such as pictures and videos of distressed infants.

Collaborators:

  • Dr Paul Ramchandani, Unit of Child and Adolscent Psychiatry, Imperial College London
  • Prof. Emily Holmes, Department of Psychiatry, University of Oxford
